      eBay's Weakening Bid
Good morning! Wanna hear a good one?

eBay wants sellers to lower prices so eBay can be more competitive, lol.

Let's recap here. Donahoe killed eBay's search engine; got rid of FREE keyword advertising for premium stores; added a ton of advertising; took away seller feedback, checks & money orders; added dsrs; made Paypal mandatory; and conducted at least 2 years worth of guinea pig tests all of which drove buyers & sellers off the site.

eBay had no competition until Donahoe created it because eBay used to be the world's biggest online auction site. Now it's a text book example of how to wreck a company - just hire a Baine consultant, lol.

Pretty charts - too bad they don't tell the story.

How can people buy IT if they can't find IT? And if they do find IT then they have to wait forever for IT to arrive due to the insane 21+ day holds Paypal places on seller accounts while they earn money on the float.

Pretty soon buyers won't be able to find IT at all because sellers are leaving in droves as a direct result of Donahoe's disruptive innovations.

      Hi User 300703

Wanna know what's even funnier? Donahoe's coupons don't work half the time according to posts on eBay's discussion boards, lol.

A few more items that need to be added:

      11) Delete item specifics.
      12) Remove shipping caps.
      13) Set up a 24/7 customer service number for buyers.
      14) Bring eBay back to being just a forum!

Hummmmm, interesting concept - if I were eBay's CEO this is what I would do because eBay's success or failure lies with it's sellers:

      1) Delete best match & playground - replace w/keyword searches.
      2) Delete all ppc advertising that drives buyers offsite
      3) Add/upgrade servers & replace entire IT staff w/seasoned pros
      4) Have 3 search tabs - Auctions, Fixed Price Auctions, Store Inventory
      5) Fix the damned shipping calculator - hasn't worked in years
      6) Make Paypal optional & add google, checks, money orders, etc
      7) Bring SYI back to simplicty so it's easy to use - no ads either!
      8) Give featured stores FREE adwords (Donahoe took this away)
      9) Hire a designer - the homepage looks like a 3 year old designed it.
      10) Fire everyone Donahoe hired because they're clueless.

In addition to the above, the user agreement must be written in plain english, eBay & Paypal must be unlinked (no holds on funds, etc.), and customer service needs to be open 24/7 staffed with personnel that have several years of selling experience.

      Good morning Lusy -

I visited eBay's discussion boards & noticed quite a few posts about users not being able to redeem coupons.

The primary reason they don't work is piss poor programming. For whatever reason eBay recruits college students as techies instead of hiring seasoned professionals. These kids have no clue as to how to write code or how the code they write interacts with exisiting code.

Thus users end up with pages that don't load, links that don't work, and coupons that work for some people and not others.

Does Donahoe really expect a handful of coupons to save him?
Now that's what I call funny, lol.

Do you remember the name of the company that took care of the FREE keyword advertising premium stores got before Donahoe took it away? Thanks in advance.

Et tu Brute - 12.22 (includes after hours trading) & dropping fast!

outside_the_square - Thank you for bringing this to my attention. It shouldn't cost Paypal a dime to exchange currency because it's done electronically & for them to add surcharge is obscene. Now I have a much better understanding why eBay is pushing worldwide sales.

At the rate things are going I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Paypal started charging members $1.00 every time they log in, lol.

      Good morning everyone!

Bob C - Thanks for the link to the auctionbytes article!
Guess I shook them up a little bit because they actually made an announcement this time. Unfortunately it won't get read by most users because they buried it on their announcement board & posted nothing on their home page.

Here's eBay's announcement so everyone can read it.

Some buyer payments are currently showing as Pending in the seller's My eBay, even when payment has been completed. We are aware of this issue and are working hard to resolve it quickly. In the meantime, sellers can view their item's true payment status by logging into their PayPal account. We apologize for this inconvenience.

Do you remember about 2 months ago I predicted eBay stock would fall to $10/share by the end of the year? Perhaps I should have predicted $5/share (assuming eBay has a massive buy back) by the end of this month.

btw, Paypal debit cards are "suddenly" not working according to posts on eBay discussion boards & curiously last nite I could not access Paypal's home page but I could access anything else on the net.

i guess this means that you & your friends don't mind Paypal holding your funds hostage because Paypal is holding Cashback Rewards hostage for 2 months before they release the funds. And where I come from CASH BACk means exactly that - cold hard cash NOT funds deposited in a Paypal account that does nothing but benefit Paypal.

How to release held funds - Thanks a million for the workaround!

tree411 - Bonanzle is fantastic because 1) they are just a forum; 2) their fees are reasonable; 3) their site is clean, well structured & very user friendly; 4) their user agreement is written in plain english; 5) they don't mandate how sellers are paid. I suspect Bonanzle will eventually replace eBay so long as their technology keeps pace with the number of users & I foresee no problems because this site is well run.

Just a short note to thank everyone for their comments because everyone's opinion is important. eBay closed at 13.71 today.
